Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, along with his wife and son Aditya Thackeray cast their vote for BMC polls 2017 in Mumbai’s Bandra. Shiv Sena currently holds 75 BMC seats. The Maharashtra Municipal Corporation election began on Tuesday for 227 municipal wards with 2,275 candidates in the fray. The results of the polls will be announced on February 23. Ahead of the elections the Shiv Sena called off its two-decade old alliance with the BJP and the two parties have engaged in a shrill, often personal campaign. Voting is also being held for nine other municipalities in Maharashtra today. The BMC has an annual budget of 37,000 crores, more than that of some states.
